ABOUT US

WELCOME TO THE MUSIC COLLECTIVE PROJECT
THE PLACE FOR SHARING MUSIC ON FACEBOOK. (http://facebook.com/musiccollectiveproject)

Creating a "TRACK OF THE DAY" (TOD) each day, PLAYLISTS each week. Building our own COLLECTION of music.
With a Mini Music Player (featuring a weekly playlist of each week's TODs)

This website provides highlights of our Facebook page and additional info/links on Gigs, Albums and Tracklists, as well as providing a Mini Music Player with your top picks, updated weekly. (The Mini Player comes on automatically, ad-free. Click top right (music symbol) for full playlist, and to choose tracks. For Android phones click here:
We also aim to support up and coming musicians and other related projects.

HOW IT WORKS > TRACK OF THE DAY
We will put up a TOD on our Facebook page every evening around 5:00PM (2:30 on Sunday). Each TOD will be chosen from your picks and put up according to the genre schedule (see below)

TOD will be chosen according to the schedule (see below) and how inspiring and relevant choices are.
We will also pick our own choice one day of each week starting on a Monday..
Obviously, once a track has been selected it will be logged and not be able to be chosen again, so as to keep things fresh and different each day.
Therefore, everyday, it is guaranteed there will be a different track for us to listen to!

DAILY GENRE SCHEDULE
To help narrow down our selections, and make the all round collection more diverse in the long run, there is a Format of working around a different, loosely based, Genre(s) each day.
The Format should be pretty easy to follow as you can see below.
We don’t have to strictly follow this.
However, as a guideline, it will help to keep the music selection diverse and varied as possible from day to day if we can try to keep to the format below.
See below for Initial selection Genre set-up (this may change or be refined as the page develops):

Monday  Popular Rock (e.g. Pink Floyd, Coldplay, The Verve, The Smiths, Kasabian, Elbow)
TuesdayAlternative Rock (e.g. The Clash, Sex Pistols, Foo Fighters, Motorhead, Tinariwen)

ORIGINS OF THIS PROJECT
This project has come about through a belief that Music can be made more accessible, shared more easily, and utilized in a social way to inspire and positively affect us.

This is a project created for all the music lovers out there who have a passion for discovering and sharing inspiring music, old and new (preferably music that has been created by original musicians who can actually play instruments and create their own songs/tracks! :)

In creating this project we are attempting to exert more control over what we listen to and where we get our music inspiration from, because let's face it - we have little influence of controlling what is played within mainstream media! And if we are looking for some quick inspiration we are not likely to find it with a quick scan of the airwaves..
We have pretty much no control over what is played on the Radio, TV, in Commercial outlets and in some workplaces, and even at our own leisure we can end up spending hours searching for songs online within automated Music Shops/Libraries/Players etc, with little to no human interaction, and usually at a cost!...
This is why we have set up this project - to establish a sharing process that enables good music to be accessed freely and more socially..
Through people sharing their choices on our Facebook page in a simple, accessible, social way, and by interacting with ideas and choices, we can broaden our musical horizons and help build a collection of inspiring songs that we no doubt would not come across otherwise.
(I guess you could say it is a sort of “Revolution Radio”.  Our own little antidote to mainstream Radio, which churns out the same old ##*@ day after day! Not that mainstream Radio is all bad, it just seems to repeat songs an awful lot! Which is why we hope to offer a much better variety that are our own choices…)
